Tamarind tree is a classic contemporary designed Indian cuisine, built in a grade 2 listed building, combining old favourites and authentic dishes prepared by one of the countries foremost chefs, the key to the dishes is exotic spices, fruits and herbs which are used to create them, including the fruit from the tamarind tree, which is where the restaurant takes its name from.

Tamarind tree is a beautiful tree found in India, the trees are loved by people for the beauty of their foliage and in particularly hot seasons the trees are sought for shade from the heat of the sun, but of course their fruit, when the fruit is young it is sour to taste, the fruit is used as a spice in many of the dishes and especially in the accompanying dips, which you must taste, when you visit.

Tamarind tree specialities include, King Prawn Tawa. a dish of juicy king prawns cooked in a tawa pan with tomatoes, green peppers, green chillies, garlic and ginger. Or the the Goan dish Lamb Xacute (lamb roasted with garlic, ginger and spices) is another unmissable. Breads are freshly made every day (try the sweet-sour naan with ground almonds and lime juice) and there's a nice choice of desserts – if you've got room.
